How to Repaint Your Home Interior
December 16, 2022For many of us, our neighborhood can be very important. Good neighbors can make or break our involvement in our local community. At the same time, many times our first or second homes we purchase are not our ‘forever’ homes. What then to do? Do you move out of a neighborhood you love(and possibly leave other things, like schools, which are important to you)? Do you go through the hassle of selling and buying another house? Perhaps building a home addition could be the solution to your problems!
A Few Considerations
As with any major change, there are a few considerations before you get started. We discussed a few above, but budget is probably going to be one of your chief concerns. One of the potential advantages of selling your house and buying a new one is that the sale of your house will fund your new purchase. With a home addition you will not have that, and so you will be limited by your own budget.
Also, you will need to check with your local governments for what zoning and permits are required/allowed. If the legal process is prohibitive, building a home addition may not be a viable option. With that aside, let’s cover the benefits of a home addition!
Add Value to Your Property
A remodel of any kind is a great way to add value to your property. You don’t need to design some sort of crazy new structure, but even an additional family room can increase your property value exponentially. It may cost more money upfront(compared to selling and buying a new home), but it will ensure you get more money for your house if you do decide to sell later on.
Add Living Space Without Sacrificing Comfort
It goes without saying, but a home addition will add living space to your home. However, you’ll get that added space without having to adjust to a new home. It’s great way to maintain your comfort while adding some leg room. And, if you have have a family, this is a more stable option.
Total Control
When you plan a home addition, you will have total control over the space. If, for example, you just want a guest space, you can design it. Unless you are designing a whole home from scratch, moving will not give you as much control as planning an addition will. This also prevents any wasted space or money. You can pay for, and get, exactly what you need!
It Takes Less Time
Not only is buying another house and moving a hassle, it is also extremely time consuming. Especially in the current market, selling, buying, and moving can take up to a year. In comparison, it’s possible to have an addition built(depending, of course, on the scope) done in a few months. And all without the stress of moving!
